Family and community posts urge anyone with possible sightings or video to preserve it and contact law enforcement or call 911 immediately.

• Federal Funds will fuel four Eckerd College coastal monitoring projects (eckerd.edu) — Researchers funded by federal grants are studying harmful algal blooms that have appeared almost every year in Tampa Bay and Safety Harbor, hoping to learn why they recently stopped and how to better forecast them. The projects also track microplastics, detect invasive species in murky harbors, and examine stone crab health, all of which could affect local waters, fisheries, and tourism that Safety Harbor residents rely on.
