Man Shot, Killed Girlfriend, 6-Year-Old Son, Family Dog At Sarasota Home: Sheriff
A man was charged with animal cruelty, 2 counts of murder for fatally shooting his girlfriend, son and family dog in Sarasota, SCSO said.

SARASOTA, FL — A 33-year-old man was arrested in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, her 6-year-old son and the family dog on Saturday morning at their Sarasota home, investigators said.
Nicholas Novickis was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.

The shootings happened around 11:40 a.m. at a home in the 4700 block of Mondrian Court, in the Artistry neighborhood.
When deputies got to the home, they found Novickis in the kitchen, where he was taken into custody without incident.

His 34-year-old girlfriend, Allie Novickis, and their 6-year-old son, Phoenix Novickis, were found dead inside the home, the sheriff’s office said.
The family dog was also shot and brought to an emergency veterinarian hospital, where it was later pronounced dead.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
The suspect is currently being held in the Sarasota County Correctional Facility with no bond.
