Specialty Grocer Confirms New Sarasota Store Opening Soon

SARASOTA, FL — Specialty grocer Trader Joe’s has confirmed a new location in Sarasota is coming soon.

The California-based company’s next Florida store will open at 8199 S. Tamiami Trail. No opening date has been provided.

This new Sarasota location is one of eight new stores across the U.S. that will be opening soon, the company announced Tuesday. Other new locations include Farmington Hills, Michigan; Syracuse and Yonkers, New York; Chicago, Illinois; Quincy, Massachusetts; Phoenix, Arizona; and West Jordan, Utah.

This will be the second Trader Joe’s in Sarasota. The company also operates a store nearby in Bradenton’s Lakewood Ranch area.

“We've consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in Sarasota, FL. We are proud to be joining the neighborhood, and to continue our commitment to providing nourishment to the surrounding communities through our Neighborhood Shares program,” Trader Joe’s said, adding, “Our Crew is working hard so we can open our doors.”

The new Sarasota store's location was formerly home to a Staples and a Kmart.

It’s across the street from the former Sarasota Square Mall site, which is being redeveloped and will include a Whole Foods.

Trader Joe’s is known for mostly eschewing major brands to sell unique products, as well as everyday items, under its own label.
