Health officials urge people in and around Tampa to use insect repellent, eliminate standing water, and watch for flu-like symptoms such as fever, rash, and severe muscle and joint pain after mosquito bites.

2. Man Arrested After Brandon Bank Robbery, HCSO Says (patch.com) — Hillsborough County deputies arrested a 59-year-old Gibsonton man after a midday robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in Brandon, just east of Tampa. 3. TECO files state plan to protect power customers from data centers (fox13news.com) — Tampa Electric has filed a state plan that would force large data centers to pay the full cost of any new plants or grid upgrades they require, aiming to shield Tampa-area households from higher power bills. Regulators will review the proposal over the coming months, a decision that could shape future electric rates and reliability for customers in Tampa and surrounding counties.

Delta pilots reported that the A321 nosewheel ran over a baby opossum during takeoff from Tampa (airlive.net) — An early-morning Delta flight departing Tampa International Airport reportedly ran over a baby opossum with its nosewheel during takeoff, but continued safely to Atlanta without delays or damage.
