Man Dies Days After Being Shot In Tampa: Police (patch.com) — Tampa police are investigating a deadly shooting after a man died Sunday, five days after being found critically wounded at North Nebraska and East McEwen avenues. Officers performed life-saving measures before he was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are still gathering evidence and have not yet released the victim's identity or further details.
   

2. This Tampa Bay food program has fed thousands for free since 2008. Now it's running out of funding. (tampabay28.com) — A long-running mobile food market that brings free fresh groceries to Tampa neighborhoods is at risk of cutting two weekly distribution days after losing key grants. Serving about 12,000 people a year, the Kinship Free Market now needs roughly $100,000 in new donations to keep operating, and organizers are asking Tampa residents to help through recurring gifts, volunteering, or hosting distributions.
   

3. Drone-delivered blood transfusions starting in Hillsborough County (wfla.com) — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is about to launch drones that can deliver whole-blood transfusions to emergency scenes in just a few minutes, potentially saving trauma patients who might not reach Tampa hospitals in time. Partnering with Tampa General Hospital, the program is billed as the first of its kind nationwide and could expand if its first year proves successful.
   

4. Undergraduate Alumni Spotlight Communication Department (usf.edu) — A recent USF Communication graduate who moved to Tampa at 12 describes how studying and volunteering locally opened doors at Metropolitan Ministries, Feeding Tampa Bay, and Equality Florida. Their Tampa‑based nonprofit experience has now led to a major gifts role with New York Cares, offering current USF and Tampa students insight into turning community engagement into a career.
   

5. Businesses get set for Florida's minimum wage to rise to $15 an hour (news-journalonline.com) — Florida's minimum wage jumps to $15 an hour on Sept. 30, and Tampa business owners in Seminole Heights say they're ready and even optimistic. Local shopkeepers featured in the story expect higher pay to help workers and potentially boost sales, while chains across the state scramble to hire and adjust to the new wage floor.
