Accused Rapist Who Met Woman On Dating App Arrested In IL: St. Pete Police
A 21-year-old man accused of raping and choking a woman he met on a social media app was arrested in IL, St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A suspected rapist who met his victim on a dating app was arrested Thursday in Illinois, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release.
Joshua Abercrombie, 21, was charged with sexual battery.
Detectives believe there may be more victims in the Tampa Bay area.

Abercrombie met his victim, “a young woman,” through a social media app, police said.
They met up in late November and during their date, “he became aggressive and sexually assaulted and choked her repeatedly,” investigators said.

He was taken into custody in Will County, Illinois, on an arrest warrant for the charges in St. Petersburg.
