Man Died After Being Hit By Jeep While Crossing 22nd Ave. S.: St. Pete Police
A St. Pete man died after being hit by a Jeep while crossing 22nd Avenue S., police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man died Tuesday night after being hit by a Jeep while crossing 22nd Avenue S. earlier that day, authorities said.
Robert Smith, 44, was walking between vehicles stopped at a traffic signal on 22nd Avenue South near 49th Street South, outside the marked crosswalk, when he was hit by the Jeep, which was heading west, just after 9 a.m., St. Petersburg police said.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Smith was brought to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
He died from his injuries at the hospital that night. His family has been notified of his death.
