Man Hit By Truck While Moving Turtle From Road In Seminole: Pinellas Deputies

A man was hospitalized after being hit by a truck while removing a turtle from the road in Seminole, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

SEMINOLE, FL — A 74-year-old man was hit by a pickup truck while moving a turtle out of the road in Seminole on Sunday morning, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Charles McFall was hospitalized after he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Tacoma on 80th Avenue North around 8:45 a.m.

The truck, driven by 37-year-old Jake Gauthier, was traveling west on the road when the crash happened.

McFall was hit by the truck after stepping into the road to remove the turtle and thrown to the ground, investigators said.

He was brought to a local hospital, where he is in life-threatening but stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

Gauthier wasn’t injured in the crash.

Investigators said that neither speed nor impairment appeared to be a factor in the crash.
