Lakewood Trail Connector mural celebrates community (stpetecatalyst.com) — A new 400-foot community mural now brightens the Lakewood Trail Connector in St. Petersburg, funded in part by a city art grant and painted with help from Maximo Elementary students. Local artists, Connect Pinellas, and City Council member Deborah Figgs-Sanders see the project as a first step toward safety, signage, and shade improvements along this key pedestrian and bike underpass.
   

2. USF St. Petersburg launches industrial composter to tackle food waste (fox13news.com) — USF St. Petersburg just rolled out a student-led industrial composter that can turn 1,000 pounds of campus food waste a day into soil for the grounds. Backed by the City of St. Petersburg, federal grants, and Duke Energy, the project is expected to expand to collect scraps from local restaurants and sell compost to nearby farms and residents, while giving students hands-on green business experience.
   

3. A Cherished Lifeline for Many: Amaris Castillo on Bodega Stories (forewordreviews.com) — In St. Petersburg's Orlando Latin Market, journalist Amaris Castillo's parents have built a bodega that doubles as a cultural anchor for Caribbean and Latin American immigrants. Castillo's new book, Bodega Stories, captures the market's customers, family history, food traditions, faith, and language, preserving the voices and daily moments that define this neighborhood hub as her parents near retirement and the city continues to change.
   

4. Late rally lets Rays eke out series finale against Orioles (statenews.net) — Rays fans in St. Petersburg saw a nail-biter Monday as a three-run seventh inning and Bryan Baker's 35th save lifted Tampa Bay over the Orioles 7–6 at Tropicana Field. Yandy Díaz and Jonathan Aranda sparked the offense, while Shane McClanahan returned from a back issue, giving locals plenty to watch as the Rays try to stay in the race.
   

5. From furniture to warships: this US factory 3D-prints drone boats using robot arms (techradar.com) — A St. Petersburg-based company, Haddy, is turning heads by 3D-printing military drone boats with giant robotic arms inside its 30,000-square-foot local facility. The firm, which started with custom furniture, now helps meet surging demand for small, expendable naval drones by rapidly printing carbon-fiber hulls and partnering with defense contractors serving U.S. and allied militaries.
