Teen Turned Self In After Shooting Stepfather During Argument: St. Pete Police (patch.com) — St. Petersburg residents are learning more about a Sunday morning shooting in which police say an 18-year-old turned himself in after allegedly shooting his stepfather during an argument at a home on Cherry Street Northeast. The victim was rushed to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with serious injuries but was reported in stable condition Monday, while the suspect now faces a first-degree attempted murder charge.
   

2. 163 Illegal Slot Machines Seized At 2 St. Pete Locations: FL Officials (patch.com) — State and local authorities shut down illegal gambling operations at two St. Petersburg businesses, seizing 163 slot machines and nearly a quarter-million dollars in cash during Operation Final Spin. Investigators say the crackdown, which led to multiple charges, is aimed at protecting vulnerable residents, especially seniors on fixed incomes, from being exploited by unregulated gaming rooms.
   

3. This group wants to build a mixed-use park under I-275 in St. Petersburg (wusf.org) — A proposed $55 million Trails Crossing park would transform 12 acres under I-275 in St. Petersburg into playgrounds, markets, and green space linking neighborhoods like Historic Kenwood and Campbell Park. The long-range plan, still seeking state approvals and major funding, could take 10–15 years and may eventually displace parking used by local businesses such as Vertical Ventures.
   

4. St. Petersburg's Sanderlin Center unveils plans for new $25 million facility (baynews9.com) — St. Petersburg's James B. Sanderlin Neighborhood Family Center is planning a new 40,000-square-foot, $25 million facility that will more than double its student capacity and expand food and financial assistance services. Funded by grants and donations, the longtime community hub is still fundraising, aiming to better meet rising local needs for education, rent, and utility support.
   

5. St. Petersburg residents weigh in on city's sidewalk master plan (fox13news.com) — St. Petersburg is drafting its first sidewalk master plan, mapping 971 miles of gaps and asking residents where new walkways should go, especially near schools and commercial areas. Using GIS data and public input, the city is eyeing funding from local and federal programs, with another webinar next week for residents in Districts 1, 5, 7 and 8.
