Woman, Teenage Boy Shot In South St. Pete: Police

A woman and a teenager are being treated at a local hospital after being shot in south St. Petersburg, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A suspect is in custody after a woman and a teenage boy were shot Wednesday morning in south St. Petersburg, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of shots heard in the area of 15th Avenue South and 11th Street South around 10:40 a.m., St. Pete police said in a news release.

When they arrived, officers found the victims had been shot.

Both were brought to a local hospital, police said.

The boy is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman’s condition is unknown.

Nearby schools were put on temporary lockdown, which has since ended, police said. The schools are operating on a normal schedule.
