Florida man pleads guilty in targeted Microsoft pop-up cyber scams (tcpalm.com) — A cyberfraud case handled in Stuart has ended with a five-year prison sentence for a Winter Garden man who helped run Microsoft pop-up scams that targeted a Palm City woman and other Florida seniors. Martin County investigators traced the scheme from fake computer alerts to in-person cash pickups, and the convicted scammer now faces restitution, long probation, and additional charges in Marion County. 
2. Weekly List 2026 07 31 (nps.gov) — Two key areas of Stuart—the Downtown Stuart Historic District and the East Stuart Historic District—have just been officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This federal recognition, dated July 29, 2026, could boost preservation efforts, community pride, and future funding opportunities for these neighborhoods that many residents live, work, and gather in every day.
3. Sharks caught on video off shore in St. Lucie County, Jupiter (wpbf.com) — Shark fishing rules at guarded beaches, including Stuart Beach, are in the spotlight after recent shark sightings in nearby St. Lucie County and Jupiter. Hoarder mail carrier trapped over 100 stolen pets in Florida home (amedpost.com) — Stuart residents are learning more about a disturbing animal-hoarding case in which authorities removed more than 100 cats and dogs from a feces-filled home in the city. Martin County officials and the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast are now caring for the rescued animals, reuniting some with owners who believe their missing pets were taken along the mail carrier’s route.
