Some business owners back a walkable downtown site, while others, including a county commissioner, want it moved to the fairgrounds amid concerns about cost, disruption, and drawbridge rules. A federal grant decision is still pending.

Peeping suspect caught on camera as woman and child were inside Martin County home (cbs12.com) — A Stuart resident has been arrested after deputies say security video showed him loitering outside a Martin County home, peering through a window where a woman and child were inside, and committing lewd acts. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office credits the homeowner’s camera alert with helping quickly identify and arrest the suspect, and is urging Stuart-area residents to keep security systems active and report suspicious motion alerts promptly.
   

3. WWII Veteran, 101, Awarded France's Highest Honor in Stuart (cw34.com) — A 101-year-old World War II veteran was recently honored in Stuart with France’s prestigious Legion of Honor medal during a ceremony at Addington Place of Stuart. Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow veterans, he reflected on landing near Omaha Beach, being wounded in France, and his hope that future generations in communities like Stuart remember the sacrifices made for freedom.
   

4. Florida teen cites boredom as reason behind vehicle thefts, burglaries (tcpalm.com) — Martin County deputies say a 15-year-old Stuart boy blamed boredom for a month-long series of burglaries and vehicle thefts in areas including Rocky Point and New Monrovia. Investigators accuse him of targeting unfixed Kia models, stealing multiple cars and an e-bike before being caught and linked to additional crimes through interviews.
