• Tarpon Springs' St. Nicholas icon was sent to Greece in 1923. Mayor wants it back (tampabay.com) — Tarpon Springs may soon welcome home its historic St. Nicholas icon, which left the city for restoration in Greece in 1923 and never returned. Mayor John Koulianos located it on the island of Aegina and is working with church leaders so it can come back in time for the city's Jan. 6, 2027 Epiphany celebration and a new sister-city agreement.
