Building on school-zone speed cameras that sharply cut speeding, the new system will issue mailed citations after a 30–60 day warning period, targeting dangerous behavior at spots like East Oakridge Drive and Radium Springs Road.

Albany Commission approves $358.2 million budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (albanyherald.com) — Albany’s City Commission has approved a $358.2 million budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 without raising taxes, while also amending this year’s plan to cover higher police, fire, and demolition costs. Leaders warn, however, that aging underground water mains and other long-term obligations will demand significant spending in the next few years.

3. Ritz Cultural Center restoration moves closer to bidding phase (walb.com) — Albany’s long-closed Ritz Cultural Center is finally nearing a construction start, with federal authorization in hand and final design plans now before city commissioners. Man found guilty in 2023 shooting death of girlfriend (walb.com) — A Dougherty County jury in Albany has found 30-year-old Rico Lashon Hall guilty in the 2023 shooting death of his girlfriend, Nakeisha Warren. Prosecutors say jurors reached their decision in just 17 minutes, and Hall is expected to be sentenced in about 30 days.
