Albany police investigate Thursday-night shootings that leave one dead, one wounded (albanyherald.com) — Albany police are investigating two recent shootings, including one on Bobbitt Drive where a 45-year-old man died from multiple gunshot wounds and another at Shackleford Shopping Center. A 46-year-old suspect is jailed on murder and related charges as officers continue probing the violence affecting local neighborhoods.

APD traffic crackdown leads to 18 arrests, 3 guns seized (walb.com) — Albany drivers should know that a recent two-day “Blue Lights Blitz” traffic crackdown led to 264 stops, over 100 citations, and 18 arrests, including several DUIs and drug cases. Albany Police also seized three guns, located five wanted individuals, and say more warrants are expected from the Albany-Dougherty Special Investigations Unit.
   

3. John White, one of the first Black anchors at WALB, dies at 85 (walb.com) — Albany and Southwest Georgia are honoring John E. White, one of WALB’s first Black anchors and a longtime state legislator who championed representation and authored key Georgia legislation. White broke racial barriers in local TV news, served the greater Albany area in the General Assembly, and even ran for Albany mayor, leaving a lasting legacy for journalists and public servants of color.
   

4. Another Spike pushes Georgia Gas Prices Higher (wnegradio.com) — Georgia gas prices have climbed to an average of $4.05 per gallon, but Albany currently sits on the lower end of the state’s metro markets at about $3.81. AAA urges drivers to comparison shop, plan trips carefully, and use fuel-saving habits as costs remain well above last year.
