1 Dies By Suicide After Shooting Injures Atlanta Technical Student

ATLANTA, GA — A student fatally shot himself after a gun mistakenly fired and injured another student around 8:45 a.m. Monday at Atlanta Technical College, media reports say.

Officers found the deceased student in a bathroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Atlanta Police said.

The student, who was not identified, was in possession of a gun inside a classroom when it accidentally fired and injured another student in the leg, police said.

The second student's condition was not immediately known. They were alert and breathing when they were taken to a hospital, police said.

“Our thoughts are with the students, their families and the entire Atlanta Technical College community during this time,” the college said in statement obtained by WSB-TV.
