Park Springs Green Team Receives Ronald McDonald House Award

While the proverbial curtain has closed on the 2026 Concerts for a Cause series at Lanier Islands Resort, the good vibes are still reverberating throughout North Georgia. Proceeds from ticket sales for the three-concert series totaled $28,000, of which half benefited Georgia Mountain Food Bank and the other half benefited the Lake Lanier Association. Those funds will further the missions of both nonprofits, which hold great meaning for the lakeside destination.&ldquo;We&rsquo;d like to thank everyone who attended our Concerts for a Cause, which were not only a lot of fun, but were also really impactful,&rdquo; said Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort. &ldquo;For 60 years, the Lake Lanier Association has proven critical to the future of the Northeast Georgia region, working diligently to keep Lake Lanier clean, full, and safe. The funds we raised will support cleanup events like the LLA&rsquo;s annual Shore Sweep, as well as monthly water quality testing, and ongoing safety efforts. For Georgia Mountain Food Bank, the funds raised will provide an estimated 70,000 meals for our neighbors in need. Both organizations are essential to the future of our region, and we are proud to support them.&rdquo;Based in Gainesville, the Georgia Mountain Food Bank serves five counties throughout North Georgia and, in 2025 alone, provided 8.8 million meals to 88,000 people suffering from food insecurity. Its mission is to address hunger, health, and quality of life by serving those in need. Also headquartered in Gainesville, the Lake Lanier Association is the premier advocate for Lake Lanier. Together with its 4,500 members, the LLA strives to preserve Lake Lanier's water quality and quantity for everyone who relies on the lake and its watershed to enhance their quality of life. Both have major events on the horizon, with the LLA&rsquo;s Shore Sweep on September 19 and the 60th Anniversary Gala on November 12, and Georgia Mountain Food Bank&rsquo;s Empty Bowl 2026 event on September 25.Phil Dennis, Development Director for Georgia Mountain Food Bank, shared, &ldquo;We are deeply grateful to Lanier Islands for their generosity and to everyone who has supported the concert series. Supporters Can Help Unlock a $10,000 Donation by Voting for Their Agency Giving Story
Liberty Mutual Insurance has awarded A&amp;A Insurance Agency, Inc. a 2026 Make More Happen&trade; Award for its dedication to helping young athletes participate and thrive through its partnership with The Uniform Funding Foundation (TUFF). The award includes a $5,000 donation, which can be doubled to $10,000 through online community support. 
The A&amp;A Insurance Agency&rsquo;s story is featured on the official Make More Happen microsite, <a href="https://www.agentgiving.com/aa-insurance-agency" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">https://www.agentgiving.com/aa-insurance-agency</a>, where supporters can vote to help unlock the full $10,000 donation. If the story receives at least 750 combined votes and comments, the $5,000 award will be doubled. The additional funding would help provide complete uniform packages for youth football and cheer programs and expand TUFF&rsquo;s reach to additional underserved communities. 
The Uniform Funding Foundation provides uniforms and equipment to underfunded youth athletic programs, helping boys and girls in soccer, basketball, football, track, and cheerleading participate and thrive regardless of their family&rsquo;s financial situation. TUFF&rsquo;s work helps make sports more inclusive, equitable, and meaningful for kids across the country. 
That mission has long resonated with A&amp;A Insurance Agency Principal Louie Abdou, whose agency has supported TUFF since 2019 through year-round fundraising and hands-on volunteer efforts. A&amp;A Insurance Agency participates in multiple uniform donation events each year, helping deliver brand-new uniforms to young athletes who might otherwise have to compete in mismatched or worn gear.

Lanier Islands Resort Unveils a Packed Fall Calendar of Lakeside Events

After the sale of its original haunting grounds and a two-year hiatus, the <a href="http://www.bufordtrailofterror.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Buford Trail of Terror</a> is back and more bloodcurdling than ever with a new address along the shores of Lake Lanier. First launched in 2017, as screams spread throughout metro Atlanta, the number of thrill-seekers rapidly grew from 50 to at-capacity crowds of well over 1000 people a night. From its new location at 7650 Lanier Islands Parkway, the haunted house SLASH open-air experience and its 50 restless spirits will be primed and ready to rattle the nerves of even larger crowds than the Trail could previously accommodate. The first night of frights for the 2026 season kicks off Saturday, September 26, and runs rampant on select nights through Saturday, November 7.
Created by Matthew Miller, owner of Matthew&rsquo;s &amp; Co. Salon in Flowery Branch, the Buford Trail of Terror was spawned from his love of Stephen King novels and his roots as a Junior Tucker Lion. In 1993, Miller had the chance to participate in Tucker Youth Football League&rsquo;s rendition of its own Trail of Terror, and it left an indelible mark. In the 24 years in between that fateful night and the debut of the <a href="http://www.bufordtrailofterror.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Buford Trail of Terror</a>, he conjured up a variety of ways to create one of the scariest haunted houses in the state of Georgia. Miller regularly participates in continuing education to help him craft a cavalcade of creatures, and he enlists the aid of his stylists, makeup artists, and local artisans to design the hair, makeup, and costumes for dozens of professional actors he hires each year. All those efforts have not gone unnoticed. The Buford Trail of Terror has been recognized with several Haunt Junkies&rsquo; Golden Ghost Awards.
Miller promises his previous guests haven&rsquo;t seen anything yet: &ldquo;Lake Lanier already has its own air of mystique and catalog of local legends. The setting helped inspire new concepts and creatures, like pirates, vikings, mermaids, sirens, and more. Our new location also provides excellent infrastructure with plenty of parking, great food and drinks, restrooms, and live entertainment for our guests &ndash; either while they wait in line or after they&rsquo;ve survived the Trail. There will be quality in every aspect, but &ndash; most importantly &ndash; it will still be scary.&rdquo;
Miller strongly recommends that visitors to the <a href="http://www.bufordtrailofterror.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Buford Trail of Terror</a> be 16 or older, unless accompanied by an adult. Guests should expect to trek through 13 spine-tingling scenes, some of which will involve walking on sand. He also suggests that guests <a href="https://bufordtrailofterror.com/tickets" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">purchase their tickets online</a>. By doing so, the Lanier Islands Resort gate fee will be included in the ticket price. Those who wait to purchase tickets at the door will be subject to the $20 gate fee/vehicle. Regular admission to the Buford Trail of Terror is $34.99 for individuals and $24.99/person for groups of 15 or more. For those who wish to purchase a fast pass, admission is $64.99 for individuals and $49.99/person for groups of 15 or more.

The Buford Trail of Terror adds fireworks to the mix on October 24 and on Halloween, October 31, it&rsquo;s the only night when guests are allowed to wear costumes &ndash; for which the best costume will be awarded. On select evenings during the season, kids can enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour and meet the monsters between 6-8 p.m., and on &ldquo;Glow Nights,&rdquo; the lights go off, and the blue lights go up for a supercharged scary experience. Live entertainment will vary each night from tunes spun by DJ Smiles to a performance of Michael Jackson&rsquo;s Thriller to a monster mosh pit with a metal rock band. After a wildly successful 10th-year event that raised $60,000 to benefit local charities in 2025, the Sheila Fest Foundation is proud to announce the return of its all-day, outdoor music festival to the stage at <a href="https://www.traditionsofbraseltonhomes.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Traditions of Braselton</a> on Saturday, October 17. Once again, this year&rsquo;s festival will benefit <a href="https://www.iserveministries.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">iServe Ministries</a>, <a href="https://ampedkids.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Amped Kids</a>, and <a href="https://legacyyouthmentoring.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Legacy Youth Mentoring</a>. At the literal heart of both the concert and the foundation is Sheila Anderson, a Traditions of Braselton resident who nearly lost her life in 2015 to a major cardiac event. The following year, Sheila Fest was born of Anderson&rsquo;s love of community and music. With each gig, the crowds grow by the hundreds. In addition to a rocking lineup of bands, <a href="http://www.sheilafest.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Sheila Fest</a> showcases food trucks, craft vendor tents, a tailgate game truck for college football fans, a petting zoo, and an Ultimate Kid Zone. Tickets for attendees 15 and older are $30 in advance online and $35 at the door. Kids 14 and under can enjoy the show for free.
With the gates opening at 11 a.m., the first band takes the stage on the Traditions of Braselton event lawn at noon. Then this one-of-a-kind festival rocks on until 11 p.m. The lineup for Sheila Fest 2026 includes:

Sheila Fest 2026 Hits All the High Notes at Traditions of Braselton October 17

Big Love is not only one of Fleetwood Mac&rsquo;s greatest hits, but it&rsquo;s also the driving force behind Lanier Islands Resort&rsquo;s Concerts for a Cause series. On Sunday, September 6 of the long Labor Day Weekend, the premier Fleetwood Mac tribute band &ndash; Rumours ATL &ndash; will close out the series while raising funds for two Georgia nonprofits that hold special meaning to the lakeside destination. Proceeds from every $15 ticket sold will directly benefit the Georgia Mountain Food Bank and Lake Lanier Association (LLA). Hosted at Peachtree Pointe Amphitheater &ndash; offering breathtaking views of the water, gates open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. 
&ldquo;Our Concerts for a Cause series has been a wonderful way for our Resort to show our love for the community that continually shows up for us while supporting two nonprofits that are central to who we are,&rdquo; said Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Georgia Mountain Food Bank, and we&rsquo;re grateful for the important work they do to support families in need throughout our community. The first two Concerts for a Cause, held in July and August, have already raised $7,500 for the Lake Lanier Association, with much of those funds supporting its annual Shore Sweep on September 19. Funds raised for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank will provide an estimated 37,500 meals for food-insecure individuals and families. The best part? There&rsquo;s still one more concert to go, with the final performance on September 6th expected to add significantly to the overall total.
