• St. Simons Island Angler Sets New Georgia State Record for Almaco Jack • The Georgia Virtue (thegeorgiavirtue.com) — A new Georgia saltwater record for Almaco jack is now on the books after St. Simons angler Chris Germano’s 42‑pound catch was certified in Brunswick at DNR’s Coastal Regional Headquarters. The fish, landed in April at an offshore reef, smashed the previous record by more than 15 pounds and highlights the strong offshore fishing opportunities off the Golden Isles.
