• City Dedicates Lon McCamy Alley (daltonga.gov) — Dalton officials have renamed Mason-Dixon Alley in downtown Dalton as Lon McCamy Alley, honoring a Black man lynched near the Whitfield County Jail in 1936. City leaders, community members, and McCamy's descendants gathered Saturday to acknowledge that history and recognize work by local advocates who pushed for the change. The move follows a unanimous July vote by the mayor and council.
