The case, involving a Decatur High School family and a longtime local HVAC worker, has sparked wider concern about how stepped-up immigration enforcement is affecting the Decatur community.
   

2. DeKalb County to restart West College Avenue water main replacement (fox5atlanta.com) — Nighttime construction is about to ramp back up along West College Avenue in Decatur as DeKalb County resumes a major water main replacement project next Tuesday. Crews will work weeknights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for about four months between Lakeshore Drive and Emeril Drive, bringing noise and traffic but promising upgraded water lines for nearby homes and businesses.

DeKalb Dash races to second place in first-ever meet (thechampionnewspaper.com) — Young runners from the Decatur area just helped launch the new DeKalb Dash cross country club with an impressive second-place team finish in its first-ever meet. The club was formed to give Decatur and DeKalb County kids a supportive place to build skills, confidence, and a love of running, and coaches hope this strong start fuels a successful inaugural season.

Decatur man, 27, sentenced to life in 'ghost gun' murder of man after argument escalated with female (ocgnews.com) — A 27-year-old Decatur man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a man during a 2025 altercation at an apartment complex on Candler Road in unincorporated Decatur. Jurors convicted him of murder and related gun charges after investigators linked the killing to an untraceable "ghost gun," despite never recovering the weapon.
