Decatur Community Players moving to SoulShine building (decaturish.com) — A Decatur youth theater company is taking over the former SoulShine daycare building on West Howard Avenue, ending its consideration as a City Schools of Decatur early learning center site. Decatur Community Players will triple its space, add a black box theater and studios, and plans its first show there in December, while the school district continues with plans for a separate $22 million early childhood center.

Man accused in Decatur Library shooting walks free after immunity ruling (fox5atlanta.com) — A man previously charged in the February shooting inside the Decatur Library has been granted immunity after a motions hearing, leading to the case's dismissal. Decatur police say the victim was critically injured at the time, but officials have not released the victim's identity, current condition, or details of the evidence presented in court.

DeKalb County delays camping ban after tense board debate (fox5atlanta.com) — DeKalb County commissioners, meeting in Decatur, have delayed a vote on a controversial unauthorized camping ordinance for 30 days while they study its impact on safety, services, and jail costs. Advocates and residents packed the Decatur meeting, sharply divided over whether the proposal would unfairly affect unhoused people or simply regulate unsafe encampments before a scheduled Sept. 29 vote.
