New governor-appointed Dublin school board takes office (courierheraldtoday.com) — Dublin residents now have a completely new, governor-appointed city school board, sworn in at Dublin High and tasked with stabilizing a district rocked by financial crisis and board suspension. Led by chair David Westerfield and vice chair Priscilla Adams, the seven-member board faces a projected multimillion-dollar deficit, past-due health plan payments, and ongoing criminal investigations. Their early decisions will directly affect local schools, staff, and students.
   

2. Restaurant Report Card: Middle Georgia food service inspection scores September 7-11 (41nbc.com) — Several Dublin food spots just received fresh health inspection scores, including a perfect 100 for the Super 8 Motel’s food service and mid‑90s scores for La Michoacana Taqueria #2 and Saltwater Social. The report, covering Sept. 7–11 across Middle Georgia, lets you quickly check how clean local kitchens are before your next meal out.
   

3. New Laurens County EMS station addition gives crews more room to respond (13wmaz.com) — Laurens County EMS crews in Dublin are now working from an expanded station that adds ambulance bays, more office separation, and better space for staff to rest and restock between calls. Funded at about $700,000 with county and grant support, the upgrade is meant to strengthen public safety and help EMTs like new recruit Cam Spires respond more efficiently across the county.
   

4. Lucky Powerball ticket sold in Newnan scores $1 million (fox5atlanta.com) — A Fantasy 5 player who bought a ticket at the Murphy USA on Highway 80 West in Dublin matched all five numbers to win a $184,618 jackpot. The same drawing also produced a $1 million Powerball winner in Newnan, while lottery officials remind players that proceeds support Georgia education programs like HOPE and Pre-K.
   

5. The Courier Herald welcomes Donnell Suggs as new editor/publisher (courierheraldtoday.com) — Dublin’s hometown paper, The Courier Herald, is getting new leadership as veteran journalist Donnell Suggs steps in as editor and publisher. He plans to deepen hyperlocal coverage, boost community engagement, and be a visible presence around town. His role, created through the Georgia Trust for Local News, is meant to strengthen reporting and civic life across Laurens County.
