• Lilburn unveils permanent 9/11 memorial featuring World Trade Center steel (kiss104fm.com) — Lilburn residents now have a permanent 9/11 memorial at City Hall, featuring a piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center. Unveiled on the 25th anniversary of the attacks, the display is complemented by 2,977 handmade origami cranes, each honoring an individual victim and remaining on view for the next month.
   

• 2 dead after early morning kitchen fire at Lilburn home, officials say (fox5atlanta.com) — A devastating early morning fire in a Lilburn home killed two people and destroyed the house, with officials confirming the blaze started accidentally in the kitchen and that no working smoke alarms were present. Gwinnett County Fire is urging Lilburn residents to install and regularly test detectors in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on each level, and to leave immediately and call 911 if a fire breaks out.
   

• Masked AI call forces Parkview High into soft lockdown (fox5atlanta.com) — Parkview High School in Lilburn briefly went into a soft lockdown Friday after an AI-generated threatening phone call was sent through a masked number, prompting a law enforcement sweep. Classes soon returned to normal, but Gwinnett School Police, the GBI, and FBI are still investigating the call's origin and have not yet identified any suspects or announced new security measures.
