Cobb Deputy Fatally Shoots Dog While Serving Arrest Warrant: Sheriff

The dog was shot and killed after behaving aggressively while a deputy was serving an arrest warrant, Cobb County authorities say.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Authorities say they are conducting an internal review after a deputy fatally shot a dog while serving an arrest warrant Wednesday in Cobb County.

The Cobb County Sheriff's Office did not say where the deadly shooting occurred. The dog was shot and killed after behaving aggressively, authorities said.

"We recognize that situations involving animals can be distressing, and our thoughts are with those affected by this incident," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The use of force is being reviewed by the department's Internal Affairs Unit, authorities said.

"This remains an active internal investigation, no additional information is available at this time," authorities said.
