Teen's Ex, 19, Shot At Vehicle She Was In: Marietta Police

Police say a 19-year-old man shot multiple times at a vehicle carrying his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend in Marietta.

MARIETTA, GA — A 19-year-old Marietta man is facing charges after he was accused of shooting at a vehicle that carried his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend Monday.

Officers responded around midnight to a shots fired call at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Bells Ferry Road, Marietta Police said.

When they arrived, police said they found multiple shell casings and a 16-year-old girl who told them her ex-boyfriend had just shot at a vehicle in which she was a passenger.

Officers found two vehicles with bullet holes, police said. They added no one was injured though multiple rounds were fired.

A warrant was secured to charge Khalil Barnett with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree cruelty to children, police said.

Marietta and Cobb County Sheriff SWAT teams partnered and arrested Barnett around 8 a.m., police said. He was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, police said.
