Mayor Rusty Paul says aging Atlanta-owned pipes are wasting treated water and leaving some hotels without reliable upper-floor service, and argues local control is the only realistic path to timely upgrades.
   

• Noise worries lead mayor to deny school's lights permit (appenmedia.com) — In Sandy Springs, Mayor Rusty Paul broke a tied council vote by denying Holy Innocents' Episcopal School a special-use permit for lights at its Oct. 2 homecoming game over concerns about amplified noise in nearby neighborhoods. In the same meeting, the council unanimously revoked Nubia Café & Restaurant's business license after police described alleged after-hours nightclub activity and unlicensed alcohol service, barring the owner from reapplying for a year.
