State officials say Talmadge Bridge lane closures, cable replacements needed for long-term port success (wtoc.com) — Lane closures on Savannah's Talmadge Bridge begin Thursday as Georgia DOT starts a long-term cable replacement project that could eventually raise the bridge for larger cargo ships. Officials say at least one lane will stay open each way, but drivers are urged to plan extra time or use I-95 or the Houlihan Bridge while work continues toward a 2026 construction phase.
   

2. Police silent on $90,000 BMW theft from Savannah hotel valet (wjcl.com) — A luxury BMW was stolen from the Hyatt Regency's valet in downtown Savannah, and nearly a month later police still haven't publicly identified a suspect. Another similar valet-related theft occurred less than a mile away, raising concerns for visitors and prompting the Hyatt and its third-party valet operator to review and tighten security procedures.
   

3. City of Savannah to hold 'Savannah at Night' community engagement event (wsav.com) — Savannah residents are invited to a "Savannah at Night" community meeting on September 15 at Savannah High School, where the mayor and city manager will share updates on neighborhood issues. You'll be able to ask questions, hear about code compliance, illegal dumping, and the upcoming city budget survey, and speak directly with multiple city departments on site.

Here's what we know (wsav.com) — Savannah officials are weighing recommendations to redevelop the historic Railroad District with new apartments, a hotel, retail, and public spaces while preserving key landmark buildings. The study also explains why affordable housing may be located in other city areas, as leaders look to balance preservation, tourism, and livability for local families.

Secretary Raffensperger to Host Small Business Event in Savannah: (savannahtribune.com) — A free small-business workshop led by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is coming to the GA Tech Savannah campus on September 29, offering guidance on growth, succession, and building long-term business value. Open to all Georgians, the morning event includes a continental breakfast, workbook, and presentations from experienced business and financial professionals to help established owners plan their next steps.
