2. Teams compete in J. David Russell Golf Tournament to raise funds for scholarships and adult literacy (griceconnect.com) — Statesboro’s Forest Heights Country Club recently hosted the J. David Russell Memorial Golf Tournament, drawing 31 teams to raise money for Ogeechee Tech scholarships and adult education. The event honors a beloved Statesboro educator and helps cover GED exam costs, training opportunities, and scholarships that support students’ academic and career goals across the region.
   

3. DECAL brings early childhood education resources and support to Statesboro (griceconnect.com) — Statesboro hosted the final stop of Georgia’s DECAL Road Show, bringing state leaders face-to-face with local childcare providers to discuss staffing shortages, rising costs, and childcare affordability. The gathering connected area centers and families with resources, highlighted the economic impact of early learning, and encouraged providers to share feedback that will shape future childcare policy and funding across Georgia.
   

4. JMU Women's Soccer earns draw at Georgia Southern (rocktownnow.com) — Georgia Southern women’s soccer battled James Madison to a 1–1 draw in Statesboro, with Emma Chapman scoring for the Eagles before JMU equalized late. The match capped regular-season Sun Belt play, where Georgia Southern was outshot but backed by a strong performance from goalkeeper Quinn Wilson. Fans now look ahead to conference tournament action.

McDonald, Eudine (walterborolive.com) — A Statesboro family is among those mourning Mrs. Eudine Brantley McDonald, a 93-year-old Walterboro resident remembered for her long marriage, church involvement, and love of fishing and crocheting. Funeral services and entombment were held October 25 in Walterboro, and she leaves behind children in several states, including a daughter living in Statesboro, along with many descendants.
