• Georgia volunteer spots 250-pound loggerhead deep in marsh, setting off hourslong rescue (thecooldown.com) — A stranded 250-pound loggerhead sea turtle was spotted deep in Tybee Island marsh grass near Highway 80 and successfully rescued by a local volunteer, the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, and Georgia DNR. After hours of cooling and monitoring, the turtle, nicknamed Wilbur, was carried out in a sling and released at North Beach, aiding ongoing conservation research. 
• Red Cross urges blood donations after June supply drops 25%. What donors should know (wjcl.com) — Tybee Island residents can donate blood at the YMCA cafeteria on July 23 as the Red Cross faces a 25% June supply drop and rising hospital demand. Coastal Georgia donors are especially needed this month, with many nearby drives offering flexible hours and a movie-ticket incentive through July 31.
