The man, already serving time for assaulting a law enforcement officer, was declared an escapee after missing his Friday evening return deadline.

C may fail despite restored power after Lala (khon2.com) — Power may be back on in Honolulu, but many residents and businesses are still facing broken elevators and stalled A/C systems after Hurricane Lala. Engineers say safety shutoffs, damaged parts, and a shortage of specialized technicians mean some buildings could wait weeks or even months before everything is running normally again.

Oʻahu community comes together to send supplies to Kaʻu (khon2.com) — A small Oʻahu group is rallying near Honolulu's airport, filling a donated shipping container with supplies for Hurricane Lala survivors in Kaʻū. DHHL breaks ground on new lots in West Oahu (hawaiinewsnow.com) — State leaders gathered in Waiʻanae for a groundbreaking that will create 24 new Hawaiian Home Lands lots in West Oʻahu, including 16 in Kapolei.
