• HECO urges residents to prepare for wildfire season (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Work is planned along Farrington Highway on Oahu’s Waianae Coast as Hawaiian Electric replaces poles to reduce wildfire risk, so residents may see crews in the area later this summer. The utility is warning of a drier season ahead and urging families to clear vegetation, trim trees, assemble emergency kits, and review evacuation routes now. Statewide upgrades, cameras, and weather stations are also being added to spot fires earlier.
