Local prices are rising far faster than Idaho and U.S. averages, while vacancy rates have dropped to their lowest point since early 2022, tightening options for renters across the city.

Say goodbye to the Boise Bench's pyramid-shaped Horizon Credit Union branch (kivitv.com) — A longtime Boise Bench landmark, the pyramid-shaped Horizon Credit Union branch on Orchard Street, is being remodeled into a more modern, park-like facility, with construction expected to finish by early spring 2027. Neighbors are split between nostalgia for the quirky pyramid and excitement about better services, as the redesign brings a larger lobby, more ATMs, and updated meeting spaces to the Bench.
   

3. Lind recognized as Future of the Field honoree (boisestate.edu) — A Boise State University research administrator, Samantha Lind, has been honored as a 2026 "Future of the Field" emerging leader for her work supporting faculty grants and compliance. Idaho lottery winner donates $20,000 to shelter he says saved his life (kivitv.com) — A former guest of Boise's Interfaith Sanctuary used part of a $200,000 Idaho Lottery win to donate $20,000 back to the shelter he credits with helping him escape homelessness and addiction. Staff say the gift, funding roughly 500 nights of care, shows how recovery can come full circle as former guests stay connected and support others on the same path.
   

5. Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue shares tips to be prepared for the outdoors (kivitv.com) — Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue volunteers in Boise are sharing practical safety tips and gear advice to help locals enjoy Idaho's backroads and mountains more safely. Their recent free course covered trip planning, the 10 essentials, and how new tools like drones complement traditional search methods, with more classes planned for Boise neighbors and local groups.
