📰 News we're reading

• Stage 1 Fire Restrictions ordered for eastern Idaho (usda.gov) — Stage 1 fire restrictions will take effect across much of eastern Idaho, including lands protected by the Fort Hall Agency BIA, starting just after midnight on August 7. These rules limit how visitors can use fire on federal, state, and private rangelands to reduce wildfire risk. Residents planning trips to nearby forests or deserts should check agency websites before heading out.

• South Fremont Firefighters return from Big Rock Fire, no injuries reported (rexburgstandardjournal.com) — Fort Hall firefighters are among many local crews helping battle the Big Rock Fire near Heise, where cooler weather and strong mutual aid have stopped the blaze from spreading further. The fire has burned just over 2,200 acres, destroyed only two unused sheds, and caused no injuries so far. Closures and evacuations remain in place while crews secure lines and mop up hot spots.
