• Some districts cut, others hold steady as new fiscal year nears (idahoednews.org) — Kuna School District is tightening its 2026-27 budget, cutting eight instructional and eight classified positions mostly through attrition while costs for health insurance and special education climb. Leaders also expect to lose about 146 students, and the funding tied to them, when Valor Classical Academy charter opens later this year, even as the district’s general fund edges up to $60 million. 
• Kuna officials take next steps in exploring possible fire district merger (idahonews.com) — Kuna’s fire leaders just voted to keep studying a possible merger with the Nampa Fire District, a move that could reshape emergency coverage and future taxes here. With a second Kuna station nearly finished but staffing stretched thin, officials will now draft maps, run financial and legal analyses, and hold public meetings so residents can weigh in before any final decision.
