Meridian woman faces aggravated DUI charge after man falls out of moving truck and dies (idahostatejournal.com) — A man from Nampa has died after falling from the back of a pickup during an alleged drunk-driving incident Saturday night in South Nampa, and the driver now faces a felony aggravated DUI charge. Nampa Police say three children riding in the truck’s bed were not physically hurt, and they’re using the case to stress the lasting consequences of impaired driving.

2. Historic Nampa cavalry barn still connects Snake River Stampede to its roots (kivitv.com) — Nampa’s historic cavalry barn near Lakeview Park is still shaping the look and spirit of the Snake River Stampede, even though the rodeo moved to the Ford Idaho Center in 1997. As the Stampede returns June 16–20, organizers are preserving the barn’s Old West character, using it for storage and inspiration while keeping one of Nampa’s oldest buildings tied to the community’s rodeo roots.

3. Fostering growth, stifling costs: Examining how College of Western Idaho does both (idahopress.com) — College of Western Idaho, based in Nampa, is expanding programs and launching its first-ever athletics while keeping tuition relatively low for Idaho students. The Nampa City Council has already transferred ownership of the Ford Idaho Center’s multipurpose venue to CWI at no cost, positioning it as a future home for sports like basketball, volleyball, and rodeo without tapping additional taxpayer funds.

4. Two arrested for resisting arrest after standoff with Nampa police (kivitv.com) — Nampa police arrested four people, including a juvenile, after an hours-long standoff at an apartment complex where officers were seeking wanted felon Marcos Angel Cuellar. After negotiators got no response, the Tactical Response Team entered, finding Cuellar and two others hiding in a bedroom and booking them on charges ranging from resisting arrest to probation violations and accessory to felony harboring.
