Record Highs Possible Monday Before Storms, Cold Front Hit Chicago Area

Record high temperatures are possible on Monday, when highs could reach 89 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The current record high for the day is 84 degrees in Chicago.

The weather service said a cold front will then bring rain and storms Tuesday night into Wednesday. Before the storms on Tuesday, highs of 89 degrees are possible, according to the current forecast.

Cooler temps are then expected for the rest of the week, with a high of 78 on Wednesday, 75 on Thursday and 61 on Friday.

"Another weather system is expected to bring additional rain for Thursday," the weather service said.

Rain and storms are possible Thursday, mainly in the afternoon, and continuing in the night, the weather service said.
