Algonquin Man, 21, Killed In Motorcycle Crash: Police
Police say speed, reckless driving may have contributed to fatal collision at Randall Road and Technology Drive on Tuesday evening.
SLEEPY HOLLOW, IL — A 21-year-old Algonquin man died following a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV Tuesday evening in Sleepy Hollow, according to police.
Officers with the Sleepy Hollow Police Department responded around 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday to the intersection of Randall Road and Technology Drive for a report of a crash with injuries When they arrived, they found a heavily damaged 2024 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2023 Subaru Forester, according to a news release from the police department.
A preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle was traveling south on Randall Road when it struck the Subaru, which was traveling north and turning west onto Technology Drive. The motorcyclist, who has been identified as Caden Palka, 21, of Algonquin, was transported to Sherman Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, 22-year-old Maya Sobolewski of Sleepy Hollow, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said early findings suggest speed and aggressive or reckless driving may have been contributing factors in the crash. The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist with the investigation.

Additional agencies assisting at the scene included the Elgin Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Kane County Office of Emergency Management and the Rutland Dundee Fire Department.
Randall Road was closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened at approximately 11:01 p.m.
