• Two Adults and Three Juveniles Charged In Alton Shooting (riverbender.com) — Alton police have charged two adults and three juveniles after shots were fired April 11 on East 4th Street, using video and license plate reader technology to identify vehicles involved. No injuries were reported, but investigators recovered multiple shell casings and are asking anyone with more information to contact the department. 
• Land of Lincoln Honor Flight Mission # 77 Takes Off On May 5, 2026 – The Paper On Line (thepaper1901.com) — Alton veterans are among 95 Illinois heroes heading to Washington, D.C., on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight from Springfield on May 5. Residents are invited to pack Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport that evening to give them a long-overdue welcome home, and eligible veterans from Alton can still apply for future flights or the Flightless Honor Flight program.
• Hamm's Buys Trumbull Fleet, Assets (waterwaysjournal.net) — A towboat now named the Capt. Tony Ice once operated out of Alton, tying the city into a recent expansion of Hamm’s Harbor Service and Fleeting on the Illinois River. The Chillicothe-based company has bought Trumbull River Services’ Lacon property, added several boats, and is growing its repair and fleeting operations while investing heavily in refurbished vessels.
