DUI Enforcement Campaign Kicks Off Ahead Of Halloween In Kane County

The Kane County Sheriff's Office is cracking down on drunk driving during Halloween celebrations.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office is cracking down on drunk and drugged driving during Halloween celebrations.

The sheriff's office launched "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High, Get a DUI" initiative on Oct. 24 to urge drivers to commit to driving sober, buckling up and following traffic laws as children trick-or-treat through neighborhoods.

Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies are partnering for the enforcement campaign, lasting through Nov. 3.

"Driving while impaired is never acceptable," officials said. "Remember: DUIs are not limited to alcohol-related offenses. Driving under the influence of alcohol, cannabis or drugs is illegal — period. While cannabis may be legal for adults, if you drive high, you'll still get a DUI. Additionally, all vehicle occupants must wear their seat belts or risk a ticket."

Authorities shared these tips ahead of Halloween:
