The case, which also involves an Aurora-based engineer who pleaded guilty, highlights how the plant's closure intersected with an alleged scheme to move years of local research and development overseas.

Aurora City Council approves townhouse project with sustainability features near Fox Valley Mall (chicagotribune.com) — Aurora's City Council has approved a 185-unit townhouse development with new energy-efficiency standards and an extension of Commons Drive on the Far East Side near Fox Valley Mall. The project, in District 204, trades capped permit fees for the developer taking on costly road and infrastructure work, and will add higher-priced, sustainability-focused homes over the next several years.

'Road warrior' fighting family homelessness (thevoice.us) — A homelessness advocate recently briefed the Aurora Lions Club on the growing number of unhoused students, including more than 500 in East Aurora District 131 and over 200 in West Aurora District 129. She shared stories from her new book and two decades on the road documenting family homelessness, urging local residents to recognize and respond to the crisis affecting children here.
   

4. Aurora unseals 100-year-old time capsule (thevoice.us) — A recently unsealed 100-year-old time capsule from Aurora's former Lincoln Masonic Temple has revealed well-preserved newspapers, Masonic items, and historic documents now in the care of the Aurora Historical Society. About 50 residents gathered at the downtown GAR Hall lawn to watch officials, including Mayor John Laesch, open the capsule and hear plans for possible future public viewing.
   

5. Residents Charged Up About Electronics Recycling Event in Aurora, IL (wasteadvantagemag.com) — Aurora residents are turning out in big numbers for the city's popular electronics recycling event, which safely collects everything from TVs and computers to hair dryers and holiday lights. City officials say the four-hour drive-through draws over 2,000 vehicles and is designed to give locals a convenient, environmentally friendly way to dispose of old electronics.
