• National Nights Out 2026: Times and locations for Stateline events (mystateline.com) — Belvidere families can head to Big Thunder Park tonight from 5–8 p.m. for National Night Out with the Belvidere Police Department, featuring a fire hydrant party, K9 demo, games, and free food. The roundup also lists times and locations for similar police-community events across Rockford, Roscoe, Beloit, Janesville, and other Stateline communities. 
• Bookmobile shelter unveiled at Ida Public Library in Belvidere (wifr.com) — Ida Public Library in Belvidere just unveiled a new shelter for its bookmobile, protecting the aging vehicle from weather and doubling as a covered space for outdoor programs. Funded by a Northern Illinois Community Foundation grant and a state security grant, the project also brings upgraded cameras and motion lighting to the library grounds.
• U.S. Rep. Darrin LaHood visits Empower Boone to discuss food insecurity (mystateline.com) — Empower Boone, the main food pantry serving Boone County, is working with the Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce on a major capital campaign to replace a broken freezer and repair its Capron facility. During a Tuesday visit, U.S. Rep. Darrin LaHood toured the site, praised volunteers, and said he’ll explore federal funding options as demand for food assistance continues to rise.
