⢠'Hairspray' Comes To The Stage At Eisenhower High School (patch.com) ā Blue Islandās Dwight D. Eisenhower High School students are staging the musical āHairsprayā in the schoolās new performing arts center April 23ā25, with 7 p.m. performances at 12700 S. Sacramento Ave. The show features a large student cast and tackles themes of racial integration through upbeat songs and dance. Reserved-seat tickets cost $12 and can be purchased online in advance.

⢠Illinois lawmakers grill diversity commission over lack of progress (blackchronicle.com) ā An Illinois House budget hearing put tough questions to the stateās Commission on Equity and Inclusion, with Blue Island Democrat Rep. Robert Rita leading the scrutiny over stalled outreach and a troubled certification system. Lawmakers from both parties criticized high commissioner pay, side jobs, and a computer change that has blocked thousands of businesses from contract preferences. The commission promises a technical fix by June, but funding and structure remain under review.
