Buffalo Grove Fire Department Marks 1,000 Smoke Alarm Installations (patch.com) — Buffalo Grove's fire department has now installed more than 1,000 free smoke alarms in 363 local households, and the program is still open to residents. Through the statewide "Be Alarmed!" initiative, qualifying Buffalo Grove homes can receive 10-year sealed alarms and fire-safety education at no cost by contacting the department. 
2. Controlled Substance Charge, BB Gun Damage: Buffalo Grove Blotter (patch.com) — Buffalo Grove police recently reported several incidents, including a local man charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance after an arrest on Johnson Drive. Officers also investigated BB gun damage to a Weidner Road window and made DUI and domestic battery arrests involving other Buffalo Grove residents, with upcoming court dates in Waukegan and Rolling Meadows.
3. Man captured in Poland 6 years after driving 150+ mph, causing crash that killed 2, including 'beloved' Buffalo Grove resident (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A driver accused in a 2020 high-speed crash that killed Buffalo Grove resident and mail carrier Arthur Matillano has been extradited from Poland to face reckless homicide charges. The crash happened on Lake Cook Road near Northgate Parkway on the Wheeling–Buffalo Grove border and also claimed the life of Inverness resident Brenda Felix-Soria.
4. As Illinois debates rules for license plate readers, resistance grows in Lake County: 'Pure violation of our Fourth Amendment' (chicagotribune.com) — Buffalo Grove's state Sen. Adriane Johnson is weighing privacy concerns against public safety as Illinois debates new rules for automated license plate readers used across Lake County. Local police tout the cameras' crime-solving power, while activists and some county board candidates argue they're a Fourth Amendment violation and vulnerable to abuse. Proposed state bills would standardize how long police can keep and use this data.
5. Jalen Brunson's earliest known autograph from yearbook being sold (nypost.com) — Before he was a Knicks star, Jalen Brunson was a 14-year-old captain at Twin Groves Middle School in Buffalo Grove, where he signed a classmate's 2011 yearbook with what's now considered his earliest known autograph. That yearbook is being auctioned online this weekend, drawing strong interest from collectors after Brunson helped deliver New York's long-awaited NBA title.
