CU Cinema Crawl Film Festival coming to Champaign-Urbana (newschannel20.com) — A new CU Cinema Crawl Film Festival is set to bring films to more than a dozen venues across Champaign-Urbana March 3–8, 2027, turning familiar spots into pop-up cinemas. Local favorites like the Virginia Theatre, Krannert Center, Parkland Planetarium, and Savoy 16 will participate, with full schedules and ticket details still to come and sponsorships now being sought.
   

2. Police respond to armed subject report at Bousfield Hall, no firearms found (dailyillini.com) — University police quickly responded to reports of an armed subject at Bousfield Hall, detaining two people and later confirming no firearms were found. One Urbana resident was taken to the Champaign County Satellite Jail, and both individuals are now banned from all University property. Investigators are still reviewing video and asking anyone with information to contact UIPD or Champaign County Crime Stoppers.
   

3. 'The good thing is he's back' (news-gazette.com) — Illini center Tomislav Ivisic is finally back in Champaign after resolving a visa delay in Croatia, drawing big cheers at the C-U Kiwanis Tip-Off event at the I Hotel. Fans also heard health updates on Zvonimir Ivisic and David Mirkovic as coach Brad Underwood outlined high expectations for a tough-scheduled 2026–27 season and hopes for a deep NCAA tournament run.
   

4. What was Champaign County's six-year bachelor's degree completion rate for Hispanic or Latino students by 2024? (chambanasun.com) — Hispanic and Latino students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign posted a 76.2 percent six-year bachelor's completion rate for the 2018 cohort, well above the statewide rate. The report notes a slight dip from the previous year but highlights that Champaign County's outcomes for this group remain significantly stronger than Illinois overall, based on federal education statistics.
