The shooting killed Justin Hill, 28, of Dolton, outside the L.L. Bean store shortly after noon Sept. 30, FOX 32 reported, citing Oak Brook police.

According to investigators, two vehicles carrying five people met in the parking lot before an altercation led to gunfire. One vehicle remained at the mall, while the other left and was located in nearby Oakbrook Terrace. Three people in that vehicle — two men and one woman — were taken into custody.

As Patch previously reported, police described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there was no immediate threat. The shopping center remained open.

In Friday's update, the department said investigators worked closely with prosecutors to ensure all available evidence was reviewed.

"When appropriate, we will share the findings and relevant facts of the investigation with the public during a press conference," police said.

No date for that press conference was announced.
