More Than $1M In Property Stolen From Gold Coast Home: PD
Jewelry, handbags, watches and other high-end items were stolen during the burglary, police say.
CHICAGO, IL — A man was arrested after stealing more than $1 million worth of property from a Gold Coast residence, police said.
According to the Chicago Police Department, Quentin Jones, 45, was arrested following a month-long investigation.
On the afternoon of July 18, 18th District officers responded to the 0-100 block of E. Scott St. and met with a 23-year-old man who arrived home and discovered his residence had been burglarized, police said.

Jewelry, handbags, watches and other high-end items were stolen during the burglary, police said.
A safe containing additional belongings was also taken during the burglary, police added.

Responding officers reviewed video evidence, which showed multiple offenders gaining entry to the property, police said.
Area Three detectives began an extensive canvass for evidence and recovered additional video of the offenders and of the vehicles they were driving, which was crucial to the investigation, police said.
With that evidence, detectives were able to identify Jones as one of the thieves, police said.
They also secured video evidence of Jones purchasing tools that are believed to have been used in the burglary, police said.
Detectives also learned that the offenders had been casing the property for weeks leading up to the crime, police said.
Officers arrested Jones on August 19; he was charged with one felony count of theft/unauthorized control greater than $1M; and one felony count of residential burglary, police said.
The investigation remains open as detectives work to apprehend the additional offenders in the case, police said.
