1. 2 women wounded after being shot in Chatham alley (suntimes.com) — Two women were wounded in a Thursday night shooting in a Chatham alley, with a 56-year-old taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition and a 23-year-old treated for a graze wound. Police say the gunfire began after a man chased the younger woman from a nearby apartment complex and opened fire, and Area 2 detectives are now investigating.

2. The Attic: Where Memory, Movement and Imagination Take Flight (splashmags.com) — A new contemporary circus-theater production, "The Attic: Things I've Seen While Lying on My Back," is running at the Goodman Theatre in downtown Chicago through October 4. The review describes a visually rich, memory-inspired show that favors movement and imagery over linear storytelling, noting it can feel overwhelming at times but offers plenty for adventurous Chicago theatergoers to discover.

3. Amtrak, CN Reach New Operating Agreement (wordpress.com) — An eight-year operating agreement between Amtrak and Canadian National will shape several key routes serving Chicago, including trains to New Orleans, Carbondale, St. Louis, and Michigan. The deal updates performance incentives, resolves a long-running dispute over grade-crossing detection, and clears the way for new equipment and onboard safety technology that could improve reliability for Chicago-area passengers.

4. Immigration officer found guilty of sexually assaulting and robbing women (seattletimes.com) — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer who worked at O'Hare International Airport has been convicted of sexually assaulting, robbing and threatening women at hotels around the Chicago area in 2022. A federal jury in Illinois found him guilty on multiple civil rights and firearm charges, and he now faces a possible life sentence at a January 2027 hearing.
