Police searching for parents after newborn baby found abandoned in parking lot (azfamily.com) — Collinsville police are asking for the public’s help after a newborn boy was found abandoned in a car seat in a local parking lot Sunday night and taken to a hospital. The baby, believed to be Hispanic and under a month old, was discovered near Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Josh Fields.
   

2. MCT Muny Express Returns for 2026 Season (collinsvilledailynews.com) — Collinsville residents can again catch Madison County Transit’s Muny Express on Saturday nights this season, with one of 13 pickup spots serving the city. The bus drops riders right at The Muny in Forest Park and returns after the show. Fares are low-cost, and larger groups are asked to call ahead to help ensure seating.
   

3. 2026 06/16 0 Larry Gene Lambird (southernillinoisnow.com) — Family and friends around Collinsville are mourning Larry Gene Lambird, 86, who was married at First Baptist Church in Collinsville and has a sister living in town. The longtime railroad carman and devoted Baptist passed away June 8 with family at his side. Services will be held June 16 in Kinmundy, with memorials requested to assist his family.

Three Collinsville teenagers detained by ICE while en route to work in central Illinois (timestribunenews.com) — Three Collinsville teenagers were detained by ICE after a June 9 traffic stop on their way to work in central Illinois, prompting concern from local families and officials. Collinsville’s congresswoman and state representative are pressing for answers, while the school superintendent confirmed the youths aren’t district students. Advocates allege local police skirted Illinois’ Trust Act, which authorities dispute.
