• Will County Board OKs solar farm near Crete, reverses rejection on six farms (chicagotribune.com) — Will County has approved a 2,400‑acre solar farm that will span Crete-area farmland and send about $40,000 a year to the village, plus more to local taxing bodies. Construction could start early next year, bringing hundreds of union construction jobs, while county leaders continue battling state rules that limit their control over where solar projects can be built. 
• Southland crime: Public indenceny in Mokena, shots fire in Harvey, and more (chicagotribune.com) — Recent regional police reports include an aggravated battery arrest of a Crete resident and child pornography charges against a man in unincorporated Crete Township. The roundup also details several gun, drug, and reckless driving cases in nearby Southland communities that may concern Crete-area commuters and families.
