Drunk Teen With Machine Gun Accidentally Shoots Younger Sister: Prosecutors
The 14-year-old girl has undergone surgery following the shooting, prosecutors said.
NORTH CHICAGO, IL — An 18-year-old North Chicago man is accused of accidentally shooting his 14-year-old sister while intoxicated inside their home, leaving her with a serious arm injury that required surgery.
Eddie Guzman-Alvarado, 18, of North Chicago, was handling a machine gun when it discharged, and he is already on probation for a previous weapons offense, prosecutors said. He now faces multiple felony charges, including armed violence, unlawful possession of a machine gun and drug-related offenses, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
Authorities say Guzman-Alvarado was taken into custody and ordered held in jail as he awaits further court proceedings, according to the Scanner report.
