Local Man ID'd As Driver Killed While Changing Tire On Interstate: Medical Examiner

The 23-year-old Carpentersville man was struck on I-80 near Torrence Avenue while headed to work early Wednesday.

LANSING, IL — A driver killed while changing a tire alongside I-80 Wednesday morning has been identified as a 23-year-old Carpentersville man, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Sebastian Stone, 23, of Carpentersville, was struck just before 5:30 a.m. on I-80 westbound near Torrence Avenue, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday evening.

Stone was pronounced dead at 5:48 a.m., according to records.

Stone's family said the man was on his way to work when he was fatally hit by a vehicle, according to ABC 7 Chicago. Stone was headed to work in Elk Grove Village from Hammond, Indiana, when the collision occurred.
